“As a specialist in endoscope reprocessing, Soluscope wants to conquer America (Canada and USA).

Soluscope, based in Marseilles' area La Capelette, has just signed an agreement with the US top distributor.

Discreet, the small company from Marseilles created by Frederic Dray and Bernard Mariotti turned itself into a group employing over 70 people, including its subsidiary companies. At the beginning, an inventor, Bernard Mariotti, who developed in his garage a prototype, intended to disinfect flexible endoscopes.

The unlikely meeting with Frederic Dray, who had sales experience of disinfectants in healthcare industry, leads to the creation in 1994 of a joint company, Soluscope. Nowadays, the company sells around 300 automatic endoscope reprocessors and their dedicated chemicals per year, while the exports in 25 countries contribute to half of the 15 million Euros turnover for the current fiscal year ending June 2007. In order to keep control of the manufacturing process, the company purchased PSP, its main supplier of plastic parts. Since last summer, in addition to its subsidiary company in Germany, Soluscope implemented its company in China.

“We are also developing the same and smaller machine, intended to be used in ENT endoscopy department” said the two managing directors, whose expectations are high for ongoing development due to a new contract with Minntech, the world leader in the industry, for the exclusive distribution of their machine in North America.

“The first sales should start in Canada in September” added Frederic Dray and Bernard Mariotti. The objective of the company, after getting approval from FDA (Food & Drug Administration) planned for early 2008, is to double the sales turnover of the company.”
